The ev command line interface (CLI) is provided as a binary for various platforms. The ev interface can be run in either interactive mode (a command line interpretive shell) or as simple commands on the command line.

Step 1: Download

Step 2: Install and run

  • Unzip the downloaded file.
  • Move to a location you prefer, and add to your path.
  • Run like:
./ev --version
ev 1.0.3

Step 3: Getting connected

  • Test the connection to make sure everything is working. This test returns a list zero or more sources.

The username and password are the same you would use to connect to If you don't have an account, you can register to create one.

./ev -U <username> -P <password> source list
[]  # connected - zero sources.

Ev supports both a script mode (default) or an interactive mode. See interactive mode section for interactive mode commands.

Overriding configurations

A file can be created with common configuration and will be used for settings when ev starts. Ev looks for an optional settings file at $HOME/.ev.

cd $HOME
mkdir .ev
cd .ev

Using your favorite editor, create a file with the following contents:

    "protocol": "https",
    "host": "",
    "port": "443"
